Governance
American Friends of PSE is a U.S. based non-profit organization dedicated to building support within the U.S. for the programs operated by Pour un Sourire d’Enfant (“PSE”) in Cambodia. Congruent with the mission of PSE, American Friends of PSE raises funds to help the children of Cambodia escape destitution and lead decent lives. By law, American Friends of PSE is required to retain discretion and control over the use of donations to accomplish its tax-exempt purpose. Donations are tax-exempt to the full extent of the law. American Friends of PSE has a strong presence in the Bay Area and on the East Coast in New York and Washington D.C.
Leadership
Board members and volunteers shall act in the best interest of the organization’s mission at all times. Overhead costs will be limited to administrative fees and should remain well below 5% of donations. All members of the board are volunteers. The board meets quarterly to manage operations, check accounts and reports and approve grant disbursements. American Friends of PSE concentrates its funding on programs that directly help the children, through education or programs that support that core mission. The board decides each year on the projects and programs it will support. American Friends of PSE will consider other projects based on specific funding opportunities and emergencies.
